Phil Collins is a character played by Andy Daly. He is best known as drummer and front-man of the band Genesis.
Friendship with Shimmy[]
Collins is best friends with Shimmy. They first met when Collins spotted Shimmy from his home through binoculars while Shimmy was walking on Dockweiler State Beach. Collins owns a home on the beach within Doc Weiler's compound.
The pair is writing an album titled "The Lamb Gets Back Up (and Leaves Broadway and Takes a Right On Fifth)", an apparent sequel to the Genesis album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. The album contains a sequel to the Genesis hit single The Carpet Crawlers and an extended version of Collins's Sussudio, adding an addition four "Su"s to the chorus for a total of seven. The extended composition is in reference to the seven brothers Eddie, Joey, Petey, Billy, Bobby, Ricky, and Dee Dee, all of whom are wed to daughters of Stu Sudio who share the name Sue. The album features appearances from guitarists Buckethead and Steve Lukather and vocals from Michael McDonald. The album remains unfinished as they continue to search for an suitable Harmonicaist.
Collins is known as a gracious friend and is amendment about not letting his celebrity steal attention from Shimmy's birthday.
Controversy with Mike and the Mechanics[]
Collins was not included as a member of the band Mike and the Mechanics, a side project of Genesis guitarist and bassist Mike Rutherford formed during a hiatus from the band. Collins felt his omission from the band was unreasonable given that neither Mike nor the other members of the band had practical experience as mechanics, while Collins is known to be capable of fixing a car [citation needed].
